A man who went over a cliff states he pulled over to check tire pressure, but his wife argues he intentionally drove off, according to court records cited by the San Francisco Chronicle.
According to the search warrant obtained by the San Francisco Chronicle, Patel stated that he moved the Tesla to a dirt path to check the tire air pressure, shortly before the vehicle fell off the cliff. He also informed officers that he was not on any medication or under the influence at the time of the crash. When asked about his emotional state, Patel mentioned feeling down due to global issues such as war and drug problems, but denied feeling suicidal. San Mateo District Attorney Stephen Wagstaffe commented on the report, stating that the details in the documents support the charges against Patel. A preliminary hearing for Patel is scheduled for June 12, according to court records
